Julia Carpenter,[1] born Julia Cornwall, is a woman that gained spider-like abilities, becoming known as Spider-Woman. In her youth, she alongside a group of women was chasing by Ezekiel Sims who wanted them dead. Which result in them being protected by Cassandra Webb. In the end, they were saved and Julia could complete her destiny of becoming a vigilante.

Dysfunctional Family[]

Growing up, Julia was bullied at school, taking taekwondo. Sometime prior to 2003, her parents divorced with her mother suffering a mental episode that had her committed and Julia was sent to live with her father and his new family. Despite her putting in the effort to try and connect, her new family remained distant.[3]

Step-Mother's Accident[]

In 2003, Julia's step-mother suffered an accident and was rushed to the hospital by the paramedics of the New York City Fire Department. Though her step-mother was stabilized, Julia was asked by her father not to join them in seeing her.[3]

Hunted by Ezekiel Sims[]

Massacre at Grand Central Terminal[]

Feeling that her family didn't care about her, Julia decided to run away from home, boarding a train at Grand Central Station. Along with Anya Corazon and Mattie Franklin, she was ushered off the train by Cassandra Webb to protect her from Ezekiel Sims. When the four stole a taxi as a getaway car, Cassie heard a news broadcast labelling her as having kidnapped the three.[3]

Left in the Forest[]

Cassie took the girls to a forest, somewhere away from any cameras, where the three realized that they had all crossed paths with Cassie in some way. Following Cassie heading back to New York City for answers, Anya and Mattie thought to go to a nearby diner. Though Julia protested, she was peer-pressured into tagging along, Anya finding Julia to be cute when angry.[3]

  • In the comics, Julia Carpenter is a woman who became a test subject injected with spider venom and exotic plant extracts, turning into the Spider-Woman. She also took on the moniker, Madame Web, after Cassandra Webb's death.
    • The first Spider-Woman was Jessica Drew, who was once an ill child kept alive as she was given a serum made from spider DNA.
    • Mattie Franklin also takes the mantle of Spider-Woman.
