The Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU),[1][2] formerly known as the Sony's Marvel Universe[3] and Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (SPUMC),[4] and also referred as Venom-verse[5] and Venom Universe,[6] is a media franchise and shared universe created by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The films are based off both supporting characters and villains associated with Spider-Man and are interconnected to each other.
Starting with Venom in 2018, the universe is comprised mainly of superhero films independently made by Sony Pictures Entertainment, much like Marvel has done with their comics as well as their films in the concurrent Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The franchise also includes other extra content, such as web series, comics, video games and other videos. They are released as tie-ins and/or promotional material to the main intallments (films), and are not necessarily canon. As for now, the video games and 'yule log' videos do not match the events featured in the main productions, therefore they have been labelled as non-canonical to the SSU.
