Discovery of the Symbiotes[]
In 2018, a genetics corporation known as the Life Foundation authorized various space missions and eventually came into first contact with alien lifeforms dubbed "Symbiotes" during the LF1 Space Mission. However, one of the Symbiotes known as Riot was attempting to launch a full-scale invasion of the planet and caused the LF1 to crash in Malaysia. After the crash, he would jump from host to host to eventually regroup with the other Symbiotes.[1]
Symbiote Invasion[]
Over the next six months, the Life Foundation used the other Symbiotes to bond with rabbits as hosts. However, the tests failed because the hosts were not strong enough. Therefore, CEO Carlton Drake required stronger hosts and ordered the Life Foundation to take homeless people around San Francisco to become "volunteers" in better hopes of achieving symbiosis. Eventually, former reporter Eddie Brock discovered the illegal experimentations and sought to expose this at the request of Dora Skirth and inadvertently bonded with the symbiote known as Venom, resulting in the Life Foundation hunting him down. However, Carlton soon bonded with Riot and abandoned his concern to hunt down Eddie as Riot planned to bring more Symbiotes to Earth. After a lengthy fight, Riot and Carlton Drake were killed after Venom destroyed the LF2 rocket they were using, preventing an invasion. Afterward, the Life Foundation was exposed for their crimes and Eddie and Venom decided to fight crime together as Lethal Protectors.
