"Just you and me, Michael. Nothing... No one to hold us back."
"I'll haul you out of it."
"That's the spirit!"
―Milo and Michael Morbius[src]

The Duel of New York City was the climatic final battle between Michael Morbius and his surrogate brother Milo.

Background[]

"It's what these bloodsuckers do, they multiply."
―Simon Stroud[src]

Wanting to find a cure for their fatal blood disorder, Dr. Michael Morbius asked his close friend Milo to help acquire a boat and several mercenaries for an experiment. The experiment transformed Morbius into a Living Vampire and he killed the mercenaries, with Milo later discovering his friend's new condition. When Morbius refused to give him the serum to make him the same, Milo secretly administered it himself and went on a murder spree where he claimed the lives of Kristen Sutton and their father figure Dr. Emil Nicholas, along with several others. This led Morbius to invent a poison that would kill Milo as well as himself.[2]

Duel[]

"You can't kill me. You gave me my name"
―Milo to Michael Morbius[src]

Milo kidnapped Dr. Martine Bancroft and draws Morbius to the building they're on before fatally wounding Martine. When Morbius arrives him and Martine share a kiss, with the latter biting his lip causing a drop of blood to enter her mouth. As she dies Morbius drinks her blood out of despair while Milo watches and laughs, leading Morbius to attack his best friend.

The two fought across the city, with Milo proving himself to be Morbius' physical superior before the two ended up in the sewers of New York. Injured and in pain, Morbius let out a scream and summoned an army of bats that he commanded to attack Milo, which overwhelmed him enough for Morbius to inject him with the poison. Afraid and horrified, Milo begged Morbius not to kill him before he died.[2]

Aftermath[]

"Thanks for meeting me, doc. I've been reading about you."
―Adrian Toomes to Michael Morbius[src]

After the death of his friend, Morbius fled FBI agents Simon Stroud and Alberto Rodriguez by flying away from the city with an army of bats. Meanwhile Martine is brought back to life, having become a vampire like Morbius. Following this Morbius' actions and new abilities became public knowledge, being reported in the news which was noted by Adrian Toomes. Sometime after going on the run, Morbius was contact by Toomes and the two met, with the latter wanting to form a team to do some good, which Morbius accepted.[2]
