The Duel at Grace Cathedral was the climactic fight between Eddie Brock, Cletus Kasady and their symbiotes Venom and Carnage, respectively.

Duel

Cletus Kasady and Frances Barrison had gone to the cathedral to get married but were stopped by the arrival of Eddie Brock and Venom. Venom and Carnage fought each other which destroyed large amounts of the cathedral. Venom was briefly overpowered by Carnage while Shriek pursued and seemingly killed Patrick Mulligan by hanging him on a chain.

Carnage went to the roof to kill Anne Weying but she was saved by Eddie Brock who also tricked Shriek into using her powers to separate Eddie and Cletus from their symbiotes. Shriek's sonic scream caused the cathedral to collapse and she was killed by the falling bell. Brock and Cletus fall from the roof when the cathedral collapses but Brock is saved by Venom when the symbiote bonds with him and absorbs the impact of hitting the ground. Kasady was not saved by Carnage and was mortally injured. After a brief conversation, Venom devoured the Carnage symbiote and Eddie, though remorseful, allowed Venom to decapitate Kasady.

While Eddie Brock, Venom, Anne Weying, and Dan Lewis escape, a still-living Patrick Mulligan's eyes flash blue, having absorbed the offspring of Carnage into his system. Brock and Venom, now fugitives, decide to take a vacation while they ponder their next steps. Brock and Venom apologize to Anne for ruining her career along with thanking them for their help before rushing away to live their lives as fugitives.

Going on the run from the authorities after being marked as fugitives, Eddie and Venom traveled to South America, deciding to travel the world protecting the innocent as a superhero.
